About Cruise Portland MAINE & THE PORT SHARE PROMISE PROGRAM
Cruise Portland, Maine is a collaboration of five local organizations (the City of Portland, CruiseMaine, Visit Portland, Visit Freeport, and the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport/Arundel Chamber of Commerce) working together to promote the Port of Portland and neighboring towns for cruise ships and shore excursions.
At the beginning of the fall 2023 cruise season, Cruise Portland introduced the pilot PortShare Promise program to provide information and enhanced port services to address tourism congestion and traffic flow during cruise ship passenger visitor days. Cruise Portland is addressing public comments and concerns through the PortShare Promise Community Feedback Form – a system to help us collect, track, and document community feedback related to cruise tourism from business owners, residents, and visitors. In addition to allowing us to do our best to address concerns in real-time, this feedback data will help support future program developments and allow us to work towards solutions, ensuring every voice is heard.
The 2023 pilot, PortShare Promise program, provided Traffic Safety Guides at key cross-walks adjacent to the Commercial Street cruise port, a convenient and inexpensive means of transportation around the peninsula for cruise passengers and our local community via the new City Loop Shuttle service, a public facilities map showing restroom locations, and active community information program.
Moving into 2024, we are continuing the City Loop Shuttle and the Community Feedback Form. A map has been produced highlighting the different stops and what visitors can expect when exploring that area of town.
We look forward to continuing this work to keep both visitors and passengers happy.
